Evil Dead 3 Army of Darkness Synopsis:

An accidental transport sends him back in time to 1300 A.D, where he must retrieve the Necronomicon and battle off an army of the dead to return home safely.

Ash is taken away in his car to 1300 A.D. where Lord Arthur captures and turns him into a slave alongside Duke Henry the Red and some of his men. While being cast into a pit by Arthur’s army and vassals, Ash defeats two monsters which leads him onward to victory and earns their respect and praise. Ash is chosen by The Wiseman to retrieve The Necronomicon; however, his initial intention was only to return home. When he realized the only way back was with Necronomicon in hand he set off in search of this ancient text in Deadite territory. The Wiseman advises Ash to say the words, “Klaatu Barada Nikto”, in order to safely acquire an evil book; but when Ash forgets one word of this commandment and an army of the dead resurrects to attacks Arthur Fortress and recovers Necronomicon; the battle is now about to ensue; with Henry the Red as their only Allie against armies of darkness threatening Ash and Arthur from within Arthur Fortress itself.

Review of Evil Dead 3 Army of Darkness :

Ash is transported back through time through a time warp at the end of Evil Dead 2 to medieval times where he is mistaken for their prophesied savior – only for it all to backfire and cause more undead to arise again! Ash must fight to defeat these fiends!
This third installment sees gore decrease and comedy increase dramatically, outdoing even its predecessors with its darkly comic dialogue and humor. But this third chapter truly is hilarious – packed with one-liners, funny/horror setups, and hilarious one-liners and jokes throughout that keep audiences laughing! While horror may no longer be scary due to lack of gore, stop motion stuff adds an old-school charm that gives this chapter its appeal; I find this approach very enjoyable as it feels similar to one of the Harryhausen films of old!
Campbell is absolutely incredible; I bet he cannot believe his good fortune! Although his career had previously struggled, Rami seems to have taken an instant liking to him – rightly so as he reminds one of Jim Carrey but with more talent. A classic B-movie leading man type. While other actors do their part admirably enough; Campbell stands out brilliantly as this movie truly showcases a one-man show and does so successfully.
