The Great Outdoors” stands as just another cog in John Hughes’ late 80s comedy machine; featuring John Candy, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, and more as its stars. Most of its plot and dialogue can be quite predictable yet still enjoyable despite this film being average. One could argue it lacks depth but overall Hughes made some memorable work (Ferris Bueller,” Breakfast Club”) this one certainly does not rank among his stand-out efforts.
