Review of ‘The Idol (Season 1) 2023’ WEB Series :

I was drawn into watching this on Max because Troye Sivan stars; unfortunately it’s terrible trash; not fun and cheesy but truly awful garbage that will leave you shaking your head or laughing out loud at some of its more outrageous plotlines. She seems so exhausted she may or may not even know herself; no matter – motives remain obscure and there is zero chemistry between lead actors.

This film draws from clips from Basic Instinct but more closely resembles The Lonely Lady than anything else. I watch each episode to satisfy my need to see more of Sivan but otherwise don’t find much else about her to interest me.

After watching the first episode, I must state my dissatisfaction – it was completely unacceptable. The main character lacks charm, while all of his or her actions and explanations delve deep into political discourse, leading to adult happy feelings that only seem to get more exhausting with each passing second of playback. Surprisingly, even an impressive soundtrack and some great visuals cannot save this episode’s initial experience from becoming tiring and dull. Rose-Depp plays Jocelyn who exhibits unpredictable behavior that’s quite bizarre for an adult content film. Furthermore, the “lore” that precedes its 20 minutes feels as if it could have come straight off an adult website. Even though its story and characters are stereotypically written, Euphoria comes to mind whenever I watch this series. Overall I awarded two stars to both visuals and soundtrack of this episode despite feeling very disappointed about my viewing experience; nonetheless, I will give this series another two or three episodes as a chance.
