The film’s plot follows a cast and crew who gather to make a pornographic film on an elderly couple’s rural Texas property but find themselves threatened by an unlikely killer.

X was filmed in New Zealand, with production primarily in Fordell. Its score was composed by Tyler Bates and Chelsea Wolfe. The film had its world premiere at South by Southwest (SXSW) on March 13, 2022, and was theatrically released in the United States on March 18, 2022, by A24. It received generally positive reviews, with critics praising its homages to 20th-century slasher films—particularly 1974’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre—and the performances of Goth, Snow, and Ortega.

A prequel film, Pearl, secretly shot back-to-back with X, will be released on September 16, 2022. A sequel, Maxine, is in development.

X 2022 Movie – Storyline :

Set in 1979, adult movie actors and a small film crew arrive at a farmhouse occupied by an elderly couple in the desolate Texas countryside to film an adult movie. As the day shifts to night, the visitors slowly realize that they are not safe, and are being targeted by a nearby enemy.

Review of X (2022 Movie):

Paying homage to the slashers of yesteryear is nothing new, but Ti West’s new movie X makes it feel fresh. He does this by primarily bringing attention to the sex parts of the genre and exploring what sex means. This is, after all, in part about a crew of people attempting to make a porno. But the sex angle goes beyond just cheap titillation. It is at the heart of the film, and West seems to be most interested in what the experience means, whether it’s for love, a way to recapture youth, or getting the most out of life while one is still capable of experiencing the act.
